Â鶹ֱ²¥

The Adult Education Department of Â鶹ֱ²¥ provides opportunities for individuals to improve basic skills, obtain a high school equivalency, and proceed to college or the workforce. There are multiple paths to take to earn the Mississippi High School Equivalency Diploma.<\/p>\n

Some restrictions apply. Examinees must meet certain eligibility requirements. Additional services are not included in price. Call the Adult Education Office at 601-477-4164 for more information.<\/b><\/p>\n

Adult Education\/HSE Classes<\/h2>\n

Individuals may enroll in free Adult Education\/High School Equivalency (HSE) classes located in Clarke, Greene, Jasper, Jones (Advanced Technology Center), and Wayne counties. Classes are offered in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and online. All candidates are required to take a diagnostic test to determine their current academic levels. Literacy Class<\/h2>\n

Do you know someone who wants\/needs to learn to read? Adults can come to JC to join our literacy program. We offer small group learning environments with students on similar skill levels. (Cost: free).<\/p>\n

English Language Learners<\/h2>\n

This program is designed to help individuals improve English skills while developing an understanding of civic duties and responsibilities. (Cost: free).<\/p>\n

  • Social Security Number<\/li>\n
  • Must have a state-issued picture ID<\/li>\n
  • Must be at least 16-years old<\/li>\n
  • Students under 18-years old must submit an official withdrawal letter from the last high school attended AND have a parent\/guardian attend the enrollment process to give consent<\/li>\n
  • If withdrawal paperwork is not from the current school year or if the student is homeschooled, a current letter from a truancy officer stating that the student is not enrolled in the district in which he\/she lives<\/li>\n

    The High School Equivalency program (formerly GED®) is composed of courses designed to prepare students to successfully complete the high school equivalency examinations.<\/p>\n

    This program is designed to assist adults who do not have a high school diploma. Various levels of language arts, math, employability, and basic skills courses are offered to help students gain the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for a high school equivalency exam and beyond.<\/p>\n
